Yoshi Home Sweet Home Complete!

Yes. I know. To anyone who actually still reads this, I have no excuses. Keeping up with a blog can be a chore. I never committed myself to update regularly. I’m a casual poster, so let’s leave it that.

Anyways, I finally finished Home Sweet Home Yoshi at end of December last year. I still need to frame it, but it doesn’t perfectly fit in the pre-cut mat I have, so I will need to add a few more columns at the ends. I could take it in to get professionally framed, but I really don’t feel like dropping the money on that.

But here it is. My biggest cross-stitch project I’ve ever done to date.

I am very happy with the results. After 6 months of sewing, it is complete. Mind you, I did take about 6 weeks off due to being sick and other things.

I don’t think I will take on another project as large. If anything, I will still cross-stitch, but try new things with it. Currently, I am working on a cross-stitch pot holder for a friend. I’m making it all from scratch. It will be awesome.

I would post the pattern, but my hard drive decided to die on me and I lost all my cross-stitch patterns. It makes me very sad. I will try to recover the files, but it’s currently not on my budget.

Also, I will be taking up a new craft: knitting & crochet. I really want to try to make scarves and Amigurumi. I will be learning from a friend and various online tutorials. So here’s to a new hobby to take on, and take up all my time!

**UPDATE**
For those interested in the pattern, my hard drive died on me, but I was able to salvage a colored image file along with the legend. Just a warning, the image file is quite large, so to print it out it will take up a few pages.

You can get the image file here and the legend here.

  1. This is the most awesome super mario cross stitch/yoshi stitch i’ve seen yet! I’ve been on a mad search for a great Yoshi pattern. and I found it! But this project is way too massive for me right now. i need a project I can finish within a month.

If you ever find the pattern, please let me know! I would love to take this on. Also – Do you use a pattern maker program..? I need advice in making my own stitches; without having to find PATTERNS online – or at the store.

    • Thank you! I did have the pattern I made on PC Stitch Pro. I lost the original pattern because my hard drive went out, however I do have it as a png file uploaded on image shack. You can get it here.

As for the legend I uploaded it on Sprite Stitch.

I actually added more columns on the left and right, but it really depends on what you want. Hope it helps!

  2. Thank you so much for posting the PNG and legend! This is totally going to be my next project. =D

    • You’re very welcome. I wish I still had the originals, but my hard drive died on me. At least I had the png and legend still uploaded online. I did a few modifications on some colors and made it wider, but the original will still work as well.

Best of luck. This project is a huge feat to overcome, but well worth it in the end. I have it framed and is on the wall to greet me everytime I come home.

      • Oh, it’s all right. The legend and PNG will be enough. I bought the materials at Hobby Lobby with my mom yesterday, and I started on the outline tonight. I will prevail!

  3. Hi
I was wondering if you still have the symbol chart for this amazing pattern?
Well done for making it, it looks amazing

    • I have the link up above in just an image file. The original file got lost when my hard drive died. It’s at the bottom of the post.

The link for the legend is there as well.

If you have any confusion on the symbols, I’ll refer to you an image of the floss holder I used.

      Hope it helps.

  4. It’s dmc, I figured it out myself.. 🙂 thank you again. Hope mine will look as amazing as yours 🙂

    • Yes, indeed, it is DMC.

I’m sure what you make will look just as loverly as mine. I did actually end up extending the width a bit to fit the pre-cut mat I put it in. I’ll have to take a picture sometime of it framed and hanging on the wall in front of the door whenever I enter my home. 😀

      • I’m due to start this project in just a couple weeks. I’d love to see a framed picture. Did you do anything special to make the pattern wider, and do you remember how much wider you made it?

      • Hello there. I assume you found this through deviantart. 😛 Here is an image I took with my iPhone of it framed: http://i.imgur.com/MDEVA.jpg

I really didn’t do anything special to make it wider. I just added a few columns on the ends. From comparing the jpeg of the pattern to the actual finished image, I added 5 columns to the left side and 6 on the right. I basically just continued with the pattern. It shouldn’t be too hard to make it up or just copy it from the main image on the DA page or on this blog post. I didn’t really do anything fancy, so hopefully with the jpeg of the pattern and the image of the finished product will help guide you.

Best of luck with working on the project. I am thinking about doing more cross-stitching, but I get so compelled with knitting.

      • Thanks so much for replying! I love the framed image! I actually found your pattern on sprite stitch, but I’m pretty new to deviant art as well. You can check out my DA page and watch your pattern grow! ❤

I love to knit too, so I hear you!

  5. Do you happen to remember the shade of red you used? I’m following the suggestions in your legend, and it seems that the red is much darker than what I’m seeing…

I’ll shoot you a picture link, so you can see what I mean:

I’m also making careful notes about what colors to use where. I’ll try to send you a legend that will match the image file you have here. 🙂 It’ll make it easier for someone else who loves this pattern as much as I do. My son is SO excited over it!! 🙂

Thank you for sharing your lovely pattern with the world!

    • Here is an image file of the floss holder I made with the colors and DMC numbers along with the symbols. It’s a good thing I decided to take this picture before I started.

Hope it helps and happy to hear you’re enjoying it so far! Also, love the addition of Mario with the peace sign.

      • That picture is so helpful, you wouldn’t believe! I’ve been very carefully holding the thread to the monitor till now!!! 🙂 Thank you so much!!

  6. this is amazeballs.
I found out about this pattern through sprite stitch – I don’t really need more things to add to my ever growing to do pile.. though this is going straight onto it anyway! 😀

  7. Hey! I just want to say that THIS IS AWESOME! And I’m doing it myself!

Never thought I’d find so many people who enjoy this combination of videogames and cross stitching.

    Anyway, congrats!

    Kisses from Brazil!

  8. Thank you so much for the pattern! My boyfriend is practically begging me to make this for our house (we aren’t even living together yet!) once we get one. He’s enamored with it! Happy Stitching!

  9. Thank you for posting this! My husband and I are huge gamers so when I saw this I knew it would be a perfect complement as a pillow in our living. Everything else is video game related in there. 😉

  10. Thank-you so much for the pattern. I’m about to start this one now. I showed it to my partner and he fell in love just like I did 👌❤️
